Backups · Recovery · Secure disposal
Sensible backups with restore testing, help recovering lost files, and safe wiping of old computers and drives before they're sold, recycled or thrown away.
A backup that can't be opened when you need it isn't much help. Syncing to the cloud isn't always a backup either: deleted or damaged files can sync everywhere. Keeping more than one independent copy gives you options when a laptop, drive or account fails.
I can recover files from existing backups, check failing drives and advise whether specialist laboratory recovery is worth it.
If a drive is clicking or failing, stop using it and get advice before trying repeated repairs. Lost data can't always be recovered.
Secure data destruction
Deleting files or formatting a drive doesn't reliably erase the data. I'll wipe working devices so they can be reused, sold or recycled, and advise on physical destruction for failed or especially sensitive drives.
Destruction is permanent, so we'll check first that nothing still needs saving: old photos, documents, accounts files or email.
Clearing out several old devices? They can be collected for free through my e-waste collection service, with every drive wiped.
I don't claim compliance certification or guaranteed forensic irrecoverability unless a suitable verified process has been agreed for the job.
Tell me what device or account is affected and whether you already have a backup.
