Things I help with every day

Slow or playing-up computers

Tune-ups, updates, start-up problems, full disks and computers that take an age to do anything.

Wi-Fi that drops out

Weak signal upstairs, dead spots in the garden office, new routers and mesh systems set up properly.

Scams, viruses and pop-ups

Clean-ups after a suspicious click, safer settings, and help if an account may have been taken over.

Printers and new gadgets

Printers, scanners, smart TVs, new phones and tablets, set up and connected to everything else.

Email and passwords

Email that's stopped working, forgotten passwords, account recovery and setting up a password manager.

Photos and important files

Backing up precious photos and documents, and moving everything safely to a new computer.

Questions

I'm not very good with computers. Is that OK?

Of course. Most people I help just want things to work. I'll go at your pace, avoid jargon and can write down simple steps for you to keep.

Can you come to my house?

Yes. On-site visits are £45/hour across North Norfolk. Many problems can also be fixed remotely, which is cheaper at £30/hour.

How does remote help work?

I'll talk you through installing a secure screen-sharing app, then I can see and fix the problem while you watch. You stay in control and can end the session at any time.

Should I repair my old computer or buy a new one?

I'll give you an honest answer. Sometimes a tune-up or a cheap upgrade gives an old machine years more life. If it really is time to replace it, I can recommend something sensible and set it up for you.

What's playing up?

Tell me what's happening in your own words. I'll reply with what I think the problem is and how much it's likely to cost.
